About the Artist:
Carlo Sdoya was born in 1914 in Rome, Italy, and resided in South Africa from 1947. He studied at the St Giacomo Art School in Rome from 1930 to 1933 and at the Fine Arts Academy in Rome from 1934 to 1937 under Professors E. Ballerini and R. Bargellini. He came out to South Africa after the war in 1947 and taught art privately and at his art school, the Da Vinci School of Fine Art, in Johannesburg. He participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and his work is still collected.
A painter of landscapes, still lifes, and portraits. He worked in oils and charcoals and was popular for his work with palette knives.
