Description

About the Artist:

Ann is a well-known South African artist, born in Pietermaritzburg. She started drawing and painting at a very early age and studied art at the Johannesburg Technical College for three years. After that, she became a commercial artist, where her approach was photorealism. Longing to break away, she studied oils with Carlo Sdoya at the Da Vinci Fine Art School for 10 years and won the Artist of the Year Competition in 1978. This resulted in many wonderful opportunities opening for her in her life. She’s been a founding member of Artists Under the Sun since 1972.

Ann paints in oils using brush and palette knife. She is much in demand for her historical works, street scenes, harbour scenes, and many other scenes around South Africa. Ann is a traditional realist. Her colours and style are unique, generating a warm and sunny character with a zest for life all around her.
