About the Artist:
Born in South Africa and painting since the age of 16, Dante Ruben has had huge success with selling her art locally and internationally.
She is inspired by artist Hennie Niemann Senior and regards him and, naturally, her dad, Don Benzien, as the two most prolific influences in her life. One can clearly see the influences in her work, but she tries to keep her style her own. Hennie Niemann Jnr’s portrait studies are also a great inspiration to her, and she admires his skill and the way he interprets his subject matter. She also tries to capture the expressive quality of Irma Stern in her paintings and uses oils as a preferred medium.
