Description
About the Artist:
Hennie Griesel was a South African postwar and contemporary painter who was born in 1931.
He never attended a single art class in his life and had no art tuition of any kind. Everything he delivered was pure talent. He did show signs of a love for art as a young boy in the Tzaneen district, and he started painting. He earned his money as a road worker driving bulldozers. His most popular work includes still lifes of copper and flowers, especially cosmos and sunflowers. His masterpieces of landscapes, animal studies, and architecture can be seen in houses and offices all over Taiwan, the USA, Israel, and France.
Griesel’s work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realised prices ranging from 64 USD to 2,502 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork. Since 2007, the record price for this artist at auction is 2,502 USD.
